Fees
My standard fee for a treatment is $120. For those with limited means, I have a sliding scale from $80-120. This is for each treatment of 45-60 minutes. At the first visit we do an intake history and exam, the charge for the exam is half the treatment fee, or $40-60 IF we do the intake and first treatment on the same visit. If we only do the intake, the fee is $120 or sliding scale.
Insurance
As of January 1, 2023 I no longer accept insurance payments. I realize this is a hardship for some but I have found it no longer makes sense for me. There have been too many times when I have invested hours in getting a $35 insurance payment that was promised to me and/or a patient, or even found that the insurance company will not pay for some technicality that was hidden.
You may file a claim yourself with your insurance. I will provide you a receipt called a Superbill that has the information needed. If you do have insurance that tells you it covers acupuncture, ask these questions:
Obtaining payment, including phone calls to the insurance company, are your responsibility, not mine. If required, I will provide treatment notes but I will not file a claim for you.
Cancellation & No Show Policy
If you do not show for an appointment or call the day of to cancel, my fee is a standard $50. I am generally forgiving about these things and allow a person at least one no show. Keep in mind I make a living with my time and if I cannot replace you in my schedule, I am losing money. It's not about punishment; it's about being fair.
Veterans
I will continue to accept referrals from the Veterans Administration. The VA has been paying for treatment for vets in the Community Care program. While they are now trying to keep patients in-house to work with an acupuncturist on staff, they will at times refer to me. VA referrals are at no cost to patients; the VA pays all costs. Veterans have to have a referral from their primary care person within the VA system. The VA will then fax me details and I call you to set up a first appointment. I cannot proceed without that referral so start the process with your PCP. I like working with veterans and find I can help them recover from the stresses of military service as well as recover from non-military injuries and illness.

- Are there limitations of who can do the treatment? (Some, including Medicare, require treatment to be done in a physician's office.)
- Are there specific conditions and only those conditions that are eligible for reimbursement? (Many companies will only pay for low back pain.)
- Is there a limit to the number of treatments that are eligible?
- What is your copay and what will they pay?
